WARNING: Although this CD-ROM has been tested for viruses, you
are strongly advised to test every program BEFORE
installing it into your hard disk. P.I.E. and anyone
involved in the distribution of this CD-ROM will not
be responsible for any losses or damages as result
of using this CD-ROM.
QUICK START: Log into your CD-ROM, then type VBTOOL and ENTER key.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
THANK YOU FOR BUYING THIS CD-ROM.
This CD-ROM includes the latest and best collections of utilities
and tools for Visual Basic. Over 700Mb of programs with 18,000+ files
in 2100+ directories are included in this CD.
The viewers on this CD are custom-written for this CD-ROM.
They are easy to use and powerful.
P.I.E. viewer has "see-thr'" capability to view the inside contents
of ZIP files without unzipping them. This is a very useful feature.
The viewer can also launch any program by double-clicking any
executable file (.EXE, .COM, or .BAT).
The P.I.E. viewer has been tested under WINDOWS '95 and runs fine.
Depends on your system, you may need at least 600K RAM to run
the P.I.E. viewer under the main menu. If you get "insufficient
memory" message, simply get out of Windows and the main menu.
Then type: VBTOOL <ENTER>
To run the viewer directly from Windows. See TROUBLE-SHOOTING
section for more help if you still have problems.
No installation is needed if you use our P.I.E. program
viewer. It also does not install any icon or program group in your
Windows desktop either. Most people like this low profile feature.
The P.I.E. program viewer lets you see any text file (.DOC, .TXT,
or .ASC) and ZIP file. It lets you unzip file to the directory
of your choice.
Some of the files on this CD-ROM are in Microsoft WORD format (.DOC)
which requires either Microsoft WORD or a Mircrosoft WORD viewer
to view these files. A copy of WORDVIEW is included in the VIEWER
directory. Some files are in WINHELP format (.HLP) in which Windows will
automatically activate WINHELP to display these files. Files with
.PDF estension requires ADOBE ACROBAT reader to see. A copy is also
included in the Viewer directory. Files with .HTM extensions require
internet browsers like Netscape or IVIEW to see. A copy of IVIEW is
included in the VIEWERS subdirectory. Simply click on the IVIEW.EXE
file and run the program directory from the CD-ROM.
To start browsing, simply click on any directory (such as DATABASE)
will give you a long list of subdirectories. Click
on the ones that you want to examine. Click on any text or
document file for descriptions of the programs. A good place
to start is to click on the .DIZ file if available. .DIZ
file lists a concise description of the program. Click on
any .EXE or .BAT file twice will test run the program.
Click on any .ZIP file will let you "see" inside the content
of the compressed file. You can also unzip the ZIP file to
your hard drive by clicking on the "copy to hard disk" button.
Some programs may not run on your hard disk if it has an "R"
attribute. ALL files on CD-ROM is flagged "R" to prevent your
PC from writing on the CD-ROM. This "R" attribute will stay
with the file even though you copy the file into your hard disk.
To remove this attribute, simply
type: ATTRIB *.* -r < ENTER >

HOW TO USE THE P.I.E. VIEWER

The following steps to use the viewer are suggestions only.
You can develop your own ways.

sub-directories. Click on any sub-directory, you may see another
list of sub-directories. Click on any one of the directory will
show you a list of file names.
To get an idea of the contents of the program, search for
files with the following extensions:
FILENAME.TXT
FILENAME.DOC
FILENAME.MAN
FILE.DIZ (the first one to "click" if available)
README.DOC
README.1ST
READ.ME
MANUAL.DOC (some .DOC files may be in Microsoft WORD format)
MANUAL.TXT
You should get information on how to use or launch the program.
Our viewer also lets you to print out any text file on the screen.
You may also click on the "FULL SCREEN VIEW" button if you want
to read the text file in full page-mode.
To launch or test-run a program, look for files with the
following extensions and double-click the file.
FILENAME.BAT (batch file)
FILENAME.EXE (executable files)
FILENAME.COM (compiled file, executable)
Running programs directly from the CD-ROM is convenient and saves
hard disk space, but not every program will run from CD properly.
Some programs, especially the ones that write temporary files,
scores, or records, will not run from the CD-ROM (read-only media).
Sometimes the program will simply give you an "error writing disk"
message, exit, and no harm done to your system. You just do not get a
record of your scores. Sometimes your computer may freeze, hangs,
or gives out error messages like "path not found" or "I/O errors".
Simply copy programs to your hard disk and re-run program. Refer
to TROUBLE-SHOOTING section if you have more questions.
To look at the contents of a ZIP file (compressed file), simply
click on it and a Windows of its file list pops up. You can
view any text files with the viewer. But you cannot launch any
programs since they have not yet been decompressed. You can
copy the directory to hard disk and launch program from there.
To switch to different directory, simply click on any directory
that you want to see on the directory tree. Then click on
any files that you want to see or launch.
